Memorial Statue Stolen

The Black Gold project were stunned and saddened to hear the news that the marvellous statue - which was beautifully designed and made for the memorial grounds - was stolen in an overnight raid. Words simply fail everyone. The media gave the theft great spotlight so we hope the massive exposure will have added pressure to the thieves.

If the families who were involved in the disaster way back in 1959 haven´t suffered enough; this was a huge blow of the largest magnitude and our thoughts were naturally with the families upon receiving this news.

Thoughts also to the hard-working people who have given everything to make the memorial a place of comfort for the miners and their remaining families.

It is best to leave the work and any statements to the police. If anyone knows anything that may help the police with their enquiries then please do not hesitate to contact them immediately.

Black Gold book launch...
