The Black Gold project is dedicated to the Auchengeich mining disaster. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the disaster the Black Gold project will be officially launching the authorized and official book and music soundtrack. See inside this site for more details.

The Black Gold project is the main official centre-point for the creative works designed to highlight and mark the 50th anniversary of the Auchengeich mining disaster.

So far we have recruited an author to compile the authorized book and a band to record music to commemorate this memorable landmark. More details are below.

Plans are currently underway for a possible tv documentary and moves are being placed to recruit a theatrical event. Officially stamped and on our books are the author of the book and the band who will compose the music for the memoriam.

Black Gold - The Book

Scottish author Stephen Hamilton Nicol is delighted to be a part of the Black Gold project and has been entrusted to write the official Black Gold book. Stephen says: "My part of the Black Gold project is to construct a book in memory of the people who died and for those who suffered. One thing is for sure; those who lived and worked in the mines worked hard and lived hard. In memory of those people they can and will be guaranteed that I will be applying those attributes to give the people involved in the Auchengeich mining disaster the very best as they deserve no less."

  Black Gold - The Music
Glasgow band ShifterX have been incredibly kind to offer their creative talents to the Black Gold project. It´s another great scoop for the Black Gold cause. The front page on this Web site plays background music - Black Gold´s theme tune - (you must have speakers turned on and up). The track, naturally titled, "Black Gold" was written and composed by the band Shifter X. If you´d like to hear the song just go to the homepage by clicking here.
